Zooey D and M Ward
So I just saw the video for one of the songs off the new She & Him album, Volume Two. So cute, although as much as I love (love love) Zooey Deschanel, I think I almost love M. Ward more. There's something about his voice that I just can't put my finger on, its both smooth and husky at the same time and it sounds so good. A fair few of the songs off his most recent album, Hold Time, feature Zooey on them, but are a bit more country-folk and a little less cute.
One of my favourites is his cover of Buddy Holly's Rave On.
(And if you feel like going on a youtube rampage like I just did, there are some good live acoustic versions hanging around.)

I'm kinda busy, k-kinda busy
Waiting, waiting! (I'm in the pink bow, Abby in the red.)
Last night me and my best friend and flatmate (although not for much longer, sadface) went and saw Gaga and it was amazing. Despite the fact that I didn't know most of her songs, it was a super fucking great show. The costumes, and the sets, and the backup dancers were all just so extravagant, and you could tell that it was her fantasy come to life. Pretty exciting. My favourite bit was the giant deep sea fish-monster at the end, it was freaken incredible. Favourite costume was this one, which was a Margiela-esque giant wig-slash coat, and underneath it a leotard with hair sleeves...
I'm sure everyone who cares has seen the telephone video by now, but since it is so hilarious and awesome I'm going to post it anyway. And if you haven't seen it then I definately recommend that you watch it, as it will probably be the best 10 minutes of your life so far.
I also went and saw the Pixies Doolittle tour on Friday night, talk about an epic weekend. They were also awesome, made me feel like I was 17 again, along with everyone else in the crowd! (Altho I was 17 five yesrs ago, and a lot of the crowd would have been 17 about twenty years ago when the album first came out.) I ended up going by myself though which was better than not going at all but would have been nice to be hanging out with someone!

All shiny and new.
(Kathryn Wilson Daisy Boot in Purple Suede - please excuse my head in the corner!)
(Max Hanbury Dress)
(Vintage Brogues)
I keep accidentally buying things, whoopsy daisy. Last night in my tired, delusional state of mind I decided it would be a good idea to do some casual internet window-shopping and ended up bidding on the vintage brogues (got them for a bargain price of $5.50 though) and buying the grey peter-pan collared dress from Max, a chain store that I hardly ever even bother looking in. It was on super-sale though, only $20 down from $159, and I couldn't resist it.
The chelsea boots were a little (lot) more but I did get them at wholesale price, one of the perks of my new job. It seems I have a rather large soft spot for suede ankle boots, as well as these I have a tan pair of desert boots and a navy pair of lace-up boots!

Summer Sunday.

I just spent the most lovely morning in bed with my boy, half awake and half asleep, listening to a magic playlist he created.
These are my favourite mornings, when you wake up but don't have to get up yet, and nothing needs to be done with any kind of urgency and you get to have two lazy hours of snuggles and kisses and maybe a bit more than kisses and then have another little nap and more kisses and it is just so nice.
Today I want to do some sewing and some cleaning and some tidying of my room, but instead I'm going to get dressed and go and buy the paper so I can read it cover to cover in the sun while eating nectarines and honey yogurt, yum.
